Denise Reytan Does Container Art

 - Jun 10, 2009
This installation is interesting because of Julia Reyton’s excellent use of color. She manage to compile simple, inexpensive everyday objects like plastic dishware and arrange them into an artistic mountain of beauty.

Denise Julia Reytan is a German artist. Along with doing installations, she also creates quirky jewelery pieces.

Implications - Artists have always used atypical materials to create insightful installations; increasingly, however, these creatives are creating macabre, war-themed sculptures using an unexpected medium. Toy soldiers are stacked and arranged into pieces that depict tanks and ammunition, while LEGO blocks are used to form familiar makeup shapes. By transforming everyday objects into other familiar icons of pop culture, artists force us to think about their sculptures and draw parallels between micro and macro imagery.
