Articulate-Free Mesh Atomizers

Piezo Direct Removes Laser-Drilling Debris for Cleaner Inhalation

Particulate-free mesh atomizers are improving aerosol delivery by addressing microscopic debris created during conventional laser drilling. Piezo Direct’s mesh-based piezo atomizer uses titanium plates with holes as small as 2.0 microns, helping produce aerosol droplets suitable for inhalation applications. A proprietary post-process removes the recast metal lip and surrounding spatter created during drilling without altering hole geometry. The resulting mesh delivers a 3.0 to 4.2-micron Mass Median Aerodynamic Diameter while supporting operating frequencies between 100 and 180 kHz.

The technology gives Piezo Direct a differentiated component for manufacturers developing nebulizers, inhalers and other atomization devices where cleanliness and consistency are critical. Addressing residual particles during manufacturing could reduce reliance on downstream inspection while improving long-term performance. Its availability for personal care and industrial applications also gives Piezo Direct opportunities to expand the technology beyond medical devices.
