The Picasso to Palestine project will see the famous artist’s ‘Buste de Femme’ travel to the International Academy of Art-Palestine. The painting is on loan from the Van Abbemuseum in the Netherlands.

Khaled Horani, artistic director of the International Academy of Art-Palestine, describes the process as initially beginning as a joke between himself and the artistic director of the Van Abbemuseum. The Picasso to Palestine project can certainly be seen as a political act by the Dutch institution.

Implications - The Picasso to Palestine project is monumental because of the signifance of sending a major piece of Art History to the West Bank. The art work, although unchanged, garners new meaning and importance. Companies should consider this example for how to invoke new energy into their brand.
