Popular dating app 'Badoo' recently rolled out its new photo verification feature, which is designed to prevent catfishing. With more people using online dating platforms, there is a growing problem with users making profiles with false information. This dating app wants to ensure that all users are who they say they are by making them verify their identify right off the bat.
As part of its new female-focused agenda, Badoo is launching a photo verification feature. In order to verify a profile, the app asks the user to take a selfie with a unique pose. A team of over 5,000 moderators will then check to make sure that the individual's selfie matches the pictures included in their profile. The feature not only ensures that users are who they say they are, but it also ensures that they are only using current photos.
With ghosting, catfishing and fake profiles listed as some of women's top dating concerns, this new feature helps to create a safer and more accountable dating environment.
