The Phonographic Perambulator No. 1 is Made of Aircraft Aluminum
Turntables have seen a resurgence of sorts but few manage to be as impressive as the Phonographic Perambulator No. 1 by Kostas Metaxas. The Metaxas-designed turntable was created using a history of audio engineering which resulted in a gorgeous kinetic turntable. The turntable, crafted completely by hand, is made entirely of aircraft aluminum and is fully bespoke. The distinct waves in the Phonographic Perambulator No. 1 come from the use of a Swiss Maxor belt-drive system which rotates the aluminum platter in wave-like formations.
The Kostas Metaxas designed turntable will make its first public debut at the 2018 Munich High-End Show and will be joined by the company's GQT Portable Recording Device No 1. The inclusion of the Phonographic Perambulator No. 1 should come as no surprise as the handcrafted turntable is currently being sold for pre-order for $35,000.
