Hexis, the performance nutrition platform built on the science of carbohydrate periodization, has closed a €1.85 million seed funding round led by returning investor APEX Capital with participation from Enterprise Ireland and ScaleX. This will enable the company to accelerate its elite sport expansion and launch a direct-to-consumer platform later this year.
Hexis has already been adopted by professional teams across four continents, including Premier League football clubs and 40% of Tour de France teams. It integrates with wearables and training platforms — from Garmin and WHOOP to Apple Health, Catapult, and STATSport — to deliver real-time, personalized fuel plan adaptations driven by athletes' own performance data.
At its core, Hexis's proprietary Carb Coding system translates workout data into individualized fuelling strategies tailored to the demands of each athlete's training, lifestyle, and goals. In doing so, it addresses the gap where nutrition has lagged behind training and recovery technologies in the performance ecosystem.

Key Themes Behind This Trend
- Adaptive Fueling Intelligence
- Real-time nutrition recommendations based on training load, recovery status, and lifestyle data create room for more responsive performance ecosystems beyond static diet planning.
- Wearable-integrated Nutrition
- The convergence of biometric devices and nutrition platforms expands the value of wearables from passive tracking into personalized fueling guidance.
- Consumerized Elite Performance
- Tools once reserved for professional teams are moving into consumer markets, signaling growth potential for science-backed platforms that translate elite protocols into everyday use.
Where This Applies
- Sports Technology
- Performance software is broadening from training analytics into integrated health inputs, allowing nutrition data to become a core layer of athlete optimization.
- Nutrition and Supplements
- Personalized fueling platforms introduce new competitive dynamics for brands built around generalized products, plans, or one-size-fits-all supplement routines.
- Wearable Technology
- Connected devices gain deeper utility when their data powers adjacent services, positioning biometric streams as infrastructure for personalized wellness and performance decisions.
