New parking technology is being tested out in Germany. Titled Fetch.ai, the innovation utilizes artificial intelligence to deliver efficiency, convenience, and a streamlined experience. Thanks to the high-tech inclusion, the garage can communicate with the drivers on how to use it—from telling them if the premises are too crowded and there isn't enough room to rewarding drivers for not driving to work at all.

Should the new parking technology be expanded city-wide, Fetch.ai estimates that "it could cut car usage by 10% annually, resulting in a reduction of more than 37,000 tons of CO2 emissions, which is equivalent to the emissions from the annual energy use of nearly 4,000 homes." As the onset of climate change places mounting pressures on both the city and individuals to think greener, a smart solution like this could be extremely helpful.
