PaperTok Uses Converts Academic Papers into Short-Form Videos

There's a vast gap between the dense world of academic research papers and the short-form, easily digestible content people consume regularly, and PaperTok was created to make meaningful findings more accessible. Developed by a group of University of Washington researchers, PaperTok harnesses the power of generative AI to automatically transform a PDF paper into an engaging video that can be customized to suit a certain style and audience.

With this system, users can upload their academic paper and have the content analyzed. From there, the tool generates several "hooks" to pull viewers in, plus script options. Once finalized, the script is matched to corresponding video clips scene-by-scene, and the short-form video can be completed with an automatically generated credit screen that attributes the original authors and the creator.
