Bose has recently developed a new range of over-the-counter hearing aids that can be used without the help of a medical professional. The technology driving the over-the-counter hearing aids is nothing entirely new, but these FDA-approved devices let users "fit, program, and control the hearing aid on their own," according to a press release from Bose. FDA approval was granted after several clinical studies involving 125 people with various types of hearing impairment.
The Bose over-the-counter hearing aids also feature the unique ability to be controlled and programmed through a mobile app. This makes it incredibly easy for users to make adjustments based on specific needs and will be fairly intuitive to younger users. The device itself uses air conduction to capture sound waves and amplify them through the use of a microphone.
