The Sa is an origami umbrella that is currently looking for funding through Kickstarter.
The Sa's design replaces the internal skeleton of the typical umbrella with a folding system based on the principals of origami. The absence of the skeleton allows for more headroom underneath the canopy. The umbrella, which is fashioned using a single sheet of material, is lightweight, strong and flexible, meaning it is less likely to break. At worst, a strong wind will merely flip the umbrella inside out. In other words, we've been shielding ourselves from the elements the wrong way this whole time.
Other groundbreaking design features include recyclable, environmentally-friendly materials, an internalized rotating handle and a magnetic closing system.
