Leading natural and organic meat brand Applegate has released its third Mission Report, which details the company's progress in regenerative agriculture, animal welfare, farmer support, and emerging research exploring the relationship between farming practices and the nutritional quality of food. In addition to this, the company has also released two new initiatives — Groundwork and Regenerative Health.
Groundwork is a biodiversity and farmer-investment platform supporting soil health, habitat restoration, and conservation partnerships. Regenerative Health, on the other hand, is a research initiative investigating how regenerative agricultural methods may influence the nutrient composition of meat.
Applegate's report quantifies the organic meat brand's impact through metrics including the conversion of 10.8 million acres to certified regenerative management, support for 13.2 million animals raised under high animal welfare standards, avoidance of an estimated 9.3 tons of antibiotics through its No Antibiotics Ever policy, and prevention of 106,300 tons of soil erosion in 2025 alone.

What's Driving This Trend
- Regenerative Meat Metrics
- Transparent impact reporting around soil health, animal welfare, and antibiotic reduction creates room for differentiated meat brands built on verified sustainability performance.
- Nutrient-focused Farming
- Research linking regenerative practices to meat nutrition positions food producers to compete on measurable health attributes beyond organic or natural claims.
- Biodiversity Investment Platforms
- Farmer-support programs tied to habitat restoration and conservation partnerships introduce new models for scaling regenerative agriculture across premium food supply chains.
Who This Affects Most
- Organic Meat
- Premium meat companies are being reshaped by demand for verifiable animal welfare, regenerative sourcing, and cleaner production standards.
- Agricultural Technology
- Measurement tools for soil quality, biodiversity, and farm-level outcomes are becoming critical infrastructure for brands seeking credible sustainability claims.
- Food Health Research
- Scientific exploration of how farming systems affect nutrient density opens new commercial pathways for evidence-based food positioning and product validation.
