Irish furniture artists 'Joseph Walsh Studio' have displayed an opulent watch cabinet at an exhibition in New York.
The piece was custom-created for a father and son's private collection. Titled 'A Piece of Time,' the cabinet consists of a giant seed-shaped vessel and bench that wraps around it. The watch cabinet holds 108 watches over 11 levels, stands two meters tall and is made from fumed oak and pear wood.
Made with over 700 parts, the piece by Joseph Walsh Studio is described as "an object that at its very essence is horological." Using this cabinet is immediately reminiscent of the inner workings of a watch. When one of the 22 cabinets is opened, the collector is able to see a system of complex inner workings like that of a watch.
As much of a sculpture as it is a watch cabinet, this opulent watch cabinet is definitely a piece to be admired.
