Lisbon-based design studio Ateliermob has combined the beauty of nature with pragmatic purposes in its stunning open-air theater design.
Unlike much of North America, many countries choose to put their public entertainment spots outdoors. This is usually because their climates allow for patrons to comfortably watch whatever type of live or digital performance they desire at a moderate temperature.
But Ateliermob's open-air theater, situated on the shore of a river near the village of Rio de, Portugal, also serves another purpose. In order to accomodate the unpredictable and rapidly changing nature of the river's water level, this open-air theater is built to last in a site where flooding happens regularly.
