Stranger-Matching Debate Apps

This Platform Aims to Ameliorate the Quality of Online Debates

This new chat app was developed to improve the quality of online debates and discussions. Based in Brazil, Mixmind matches strangers with opposing views and encourages them to share their opinions in a more respectful way. Users can choose from a number of divisive topics including American politics, vegetarianism versus eating meat and even iOS versus Android devices.

The free app is described as an academic project that also serves as a social experiment. Mixmind makes you structure your online debates before you send them by filling in sections such as statement, refutation, question, answer and sources. The platform also allows you to earn points (Mixpoints) to use towards Modpowers (moderation powers) that grant you special privileges.
