With cyber threats everywhere these days, it's useful to understand as much as you can about online criminals. Being educated about who the enemy is can provide context when it comes time to fend them off.

That being said, online criminals are predominantly anonymous (which is the point.) This infographic explains that it is an ageless society, with online criminals coming from every demographic. However, men do dominate as 76% of criminals.

According to this infographic, they rarely work alone. Working in packs provides more technical support and allows for synchronized attacks. These packs are usually part of larger organizations. Most online criminals are after sensitive information for purposes of fraud and/or identity theft. While the threat itself won't go away simply because you now know about it, this infographic should help you take the possibility of these crimes happening to you more seriously.
