Off the Grid Housing Around the World Gives Hope for Green Future
Andrew Sztein — January 28, 2013 — Eco
Finite energy and oil reserves are a real concern all over the world, so it’s somewhat comforting to know that lots of people around the world have made a living in off the grid houses.
Eco-conscious homeowners around the world are building and sustaining houses that have no emissions whatsoever, and are completely independent of the main power grid. Using wind, solar and geothermal power sources keeps these houses heated and powered without draining significant resources with a finite life span. Not only are these off the grid houses environmentally friendly, but in many cases feature absolutely striking designs and architecture. It helps that there’s lots of talented photographers to document these designs too.
This sort of idea is happening all over the world, but the pictures enclosed feature housing from the United States, Canada, China, Iceland, England, Mexico and Australia.
