Post-Communist Village Photography

Notes for an Epilogue by Tamas Dezso is Full of Character

The Notes for an Epilogue photo series depicts a post-Communism village in Romania. It explores slowly disintegrating centuries-old traditions in a breathtakingly beautiful way. The crisp images that are at once dark and light are so full of detail, they bring to mind the lines on a wise weathered face that has been around the world and back again.

Powerful indeed, the Notes for an Epilogue photo series was shot by Tamas Dezso, a photojournalist based in Budapest. With the same style as his previous Here, Anywhere series, there is something gritty and stylized about the images. Yet this is due in large part to the sweeping landscapes and crumbling buildings captured. Dezso writes, "My aim with this series is to render a world which may disappear forever imperceptibly and very rapidly due to the transitional nature of the era.”
