Farmland-Inspired Rural Hotel Cottages

Kooo Architects Designs the Ningshan LuZhai Cottage

Japanese design studio Kooo Architects created the Ningshan LuZhai Cottage which is a capsule of hotel cottages located in China that is inspired by local themes and made to integrate into the village surrounding the location. It is meant to appear like a village of cottages and can be found in Yuwancun, Ankang City. It features eight rooms and looks over rice paddies that are along the front of the location.

The studio explains the design plan, stating "The architectural plan and layout of the first and second floors were influenced by the panoramic fields at the foot of the mountain and along the river, and we wanted guests to be able to experience the landscape from their rooms as much as possible. Although it is a single two-storey building, this design was intended to make the building look like a single-story villa built on a base of Nozura-zumi [retaining] walls."
