Submerged Landscape Portraitures

The Nathan Cyprys 'Buried' Photographs are Mysterious

These mysterious photographs by Nathan Cyprys are part of his collection titled 'Buried.' In these photos the artist appears bare in different nature settings, from hiding in a hole to being buried under snow. It makes you question what the artist is trying to portray.

According to Cyprys, it's “symbolic of both our unavoidable mortality and [Cyprys'] attempt at rebirth," which would explain why he appears naked in each of his shots. It is also why he appears to be engaging in childlike behavior such as digging up a hole in the ground. When you think about it, people are born bare and eventually disintegrate into the earth. It is interesting to see how he incorporated nature and life to form these rather intriguing portraits.

Nathan Cyprus shot these images in Aurora, Ontario; he chose the hidden area's of this suburban town, which are absolutely beautiful.
