Ford is pulling out all the stops to build up hype for the 2018 Mustang, including creating a Mustang GT ringtone. Ringtones aren't as popular in the age of smartphones as they were when all cellphones flipped and folded, but when you're trying to build buzz for a muscle car in the age of crossover and SUV dominance everything helps.
The Mustang GT ringtone was created by the automaker's engineers. They mounted microphones onto a V8 'Stang equipped with the optional Active Valve Performance Exhaust. With the car in "Track" mode the engineers let it rip, and thus the Mustang GT ringtone was born. The ringtone is an excellent organic showcase of the new car's standard and optional features, although it may only end up on the smartphones of Ford fanatics and gearheads.
