If the Musical Torch was simply a giant music box put on display, that would be impressive enough. The Musical Torch is, however, much more than that. The name itself refers to the concept behind its creation, which was inspired by the classic baton used in relay sports.
The Musical Torch was conceived by MA Creative Practice For Narrative Environments students Alexander Schnell Sramek, Kevin Yeo, Seung Youn Lee, Elisa Magnini and Amy Wallace. But it was created with the help of children from three Islington schools as part of UK Cultural Olympiad‘s Music Nation. Not only did they create the score of the Music Torch, they made casts of their hands to display on it.
