Egyptian-Inspired High Fashion Runways

Pharrell Williams Models in Chanel's Métiers d’Art Show

Highlights of the 17th annual Métiers d’Art show include extravagantly lush silhouettes and gorgeous neck ornaments. Each piece is informed by an Egyptian aesthetic that, historically, was only accessible to the wealthy. The high profile event saw over 1,000 special guests. One of which, singer/songwriter Pharrell Williams, was seen modeling a lengthy golden knit sweater, metallic trousers, matching shoes, and an intricate neck piece that, without a doubt, caught the attention of guests.

For its Métiers d’Art Show, luxe fashion house Chanel tapped the MET and utilized the establishment's Temple of Dendur as the centerpiece for the runway. From nods to the desert and skillful use of hieroglyphics as outfit embellishments, Chanel's annual show was definitely a golden hit.
