The Mount Fuji Airport terminal is set to be built by Shigeru Ban, with the design inspired by tea plantations. While this is an unusual source of motivation for an airport, the drawings regarding the potential structure look functional and distinct.
"After public consultation and much discussion, the jury praised the proposal for its originality, commenting that the design is unlike any other airport building," states DesignBoom, so clearly much thought went into finding the designer behind this building. The structure looks quite spacious from the inside, with high roofs and wooden panels that resemble something you'd find in a barn. The top part of the building is a green color, allowing it to blend well with the surrounding nature.
