Motorbike-Riding Robots

The Motobot is a Humanoid Robot That Can Ride Motorbikes

The Tokyo Motor Show has featured a lot of eye-catching, thought-provoking and unexpected moments, but few could claim to match the Motobot. This is a humanoid robot, designed and unveiled by Yamaha, that is capable of riding robots.

Now while most novice motorbike riders start out with small capacity motorcycles, the Motobot is no lame human, and is starting off its riding career with Yamaha's most sporty offering, the 1000 cc R1M.

Yamaha doesn't intend for the Motobot to replace human riders, as that would be plain silly -- however it is hope that the technologies from Motobot can be used to inform advanced rider safety and support systems. Ultimately, this is a way for the Japanese automaker to explore the future of bike-rider interaction and look for ways to improve.
