Beer Packaging Shifts

Moosehead Breweries Will No Longer Offer Glass Bottles for Its Beers

Moosehead Breweries is recognized as Canada's oldest major independent beer producer. Recently, the brand declared that it will cease packaging its beverages in glass bottles and transition its entire product portfolio to aluminum cans and kegs starting in early 2026. This strategic decision is attributed to a substantial and sustained market shift, with current data indicating that bottles now constitute a minor fraction of national beer sales, while cans have become the overwhelmingly dominant format.

Moosehead Breweries acknowledges the historical significance of its distinctive green bottle but frames the move as a necessary adaptation to evolving consumer demand and modern packaging efficiencies. To commemorate this milestone, the brewery is initiating a promotional campaign titled 'The Last Bottle.' The marketing initiative will invite devoted customers to share personal stories for a chance to win the final bottle produced and participate in a commemorative event at its facility.
