IWC Releases Its Ingenieur 50th Anniversary Models

IWC’s Ingenieur 50th Anniversary models revisit Gérald Genta’s 1976 design in 35 mm and 40 mm stainless-steel cases. Both use a restrained silver treatment with rhodium-plated hands and applied metal hour markers. Integrated stainless-steel bracelets continue the cases' architectural lines.

Each size is limited to 1,150 pieces and powered by the automatic caliber 32111, which uses a double-pawl winding system and provides a 120-hour power reserve. A soft-iron inner case protects the movement from magnetic fields, preserving the original Ingenieur's technical purpose. The 35 mm model costs $12,900, while the 40 mm version is priced at $15,000.

The combination of vintage-inspired proportions and modern mechanics makes the anniversary watches wearable rather than costume-like. Offering two sizes reflects renewed demand for varied wrist proportions, while the limited production runs preserve exclusivity. The release helps IWC turn archival design into a contemporary luxury proposition without relying on decorative nostalgia alone.
