This Modern Pet Shop in China Repurposes an Old Slaughterhouse

What was formerly the main slaughterhouse in Shanghai has now been transformed into a modern pet shop, designed by I.F.S.E. Space Creative Lab. The interior of the space offers a look and feel that's divergent from most retail pet stores, as it integrates artful metal structures that play off of the existing concrete elements of the building. Since the large-scale pillars, which are structurally necessary, would be difficult to diminish within the interior space, they are simply made prominent details within the pet shop. Various pet products are featured throughout the space and a few furry felines roam the artfully modern pet shop too.

Due to the former use of the space, the new design aims to honor animals and celebrate harmony with humans.
