The forbidden nature of seduction has faded over time, but photographer Michael Dengler captures the essence of subtle sensuality in this vintage lingerie shoot. The antiqued ambiance he creates emerges from a marriage of dim lighting and his choice of atmosphere alongside the sizzling selections of stylist Johanna Alscheken.
"We wanted to build up a visual language that melded the vintage feel of art nouveau with the more modern concept of photography," says Dengler of his first ever full-scale boudoir photo shoot. His love of old films and paintings is a clear inspiration for fashion story, which is set in an old Munich guest house opened in the 1970s and filled with preserved art nouveau furniture.
The classic undergarment pieces chosen for the shoot are no modern fabrication. Alscheken says she borrowed some vintage pieces from her grandmother and made the rest based on their designs. Though it is a seemingly simple concept, Dengler's shoot, entitled 'Vintage Blonde' has all of the pieces required to bring back retro in a sexy and compelling way.
