Insurance firm Geico, and hit indie-TV show Portlandia, are joining forces in culture media collaborations for an interesting Geico commercial.
This Geico spot is called ‘The Nomination,' and depicts a community meeting where they discuss the lack of attention the current mayor is giving to Portland’s extremely long brunch lines. The ad is encouraging fans and social media users to submit their campaign slogan with the hashtag #Maxwell4Mayor.
This effort will be seen by Portlandia’s 650,000 Facebook fans, and 88,000 Twitter followers, which will promote both the show and Geico. This campaign is not only witty, but since it involves a satirical comedy show, there is sure to be follow up and mention of the campaign within the story's plot line.
Geico is always involving other brands in its commercials, which is engaging and enticing to the public. Consumers have a distinctive perception of Geico based on its uncommon commercials; unlike traditional insurance companies, Geico continues to collaborate with different brands and media forms to create engaging and memorable ads.
