With a vast majority of consumers owning smartphones than ever, McDonald's fast food restaurants took it upon themselves to make the in-store experience easier and more attune to this connected lifestyle. Working with iBeacon brand Piper, McDonald's created a local network to let consumers know about new offers, coupons and much more to help make the restaurant experience more focused on comfort and value.
The campaign within the McDonald's fast food restaurants in Georgia was a roaring success with a whopping 8% increase in sales thanks to the campaign. Although focused on offering customers timely offers, the technology was also integrated to get the word out to people in the area about employment opportunities to help further integrate into local communities.
