The life of Mario and Luigi is more than just fun and games in the Mario Bros. Indie Film trailer by parody video makers Pixels Per Second. The trailer made a splash at the 2011 SXSW Film Festival, premiering as a 'bumper' before one of the main features. Now available to watch on Pixels Per Second's YouTube channel, the video has garnered over 120,000 views since its upload on August 10th, 2011.

The Mario Bros. Indie Film trailer re-imagines the mustachioed video game hero as a modern-day hipster; he also seems to be struggling with a slight drug and alcohol addiction. The phony film promo makes use of all the famous Mario Bros. characters, including Luigi, Peach and Bowser, in a coming-of-age tale that follows Mario as he fights for his dream girl.

With so many video games and comics being adapted for film and TV, the Mario Bros. Indie Film trailer is a refreshing take on the classic Nintendo game. Though it was meant to be satirical, the final product actually looks like could become an awesome indie flick!
