Australian designer Marcus Byrne developed a new font using iPhone light. The 3D Phone Streak is created in the dark by painting characters with the light from the smartphone. The artist photographed this using 3.5 second exposures with a Canon 5D camera.
The light is emitted from the app trails, rather than a flashlight or similar Apple app. The typography is available not just in white, but in colors as well. On his Behance page, Marcus Byrne also included a few mock up images as well as a 3D printed version of his favorite character, 'z.'
This method of typography and font is a modern and technological evolution from other examples of light streak photography, such as writing words using sparklers or creating images with glow sticks.
