Modular Handheld Consoles

The Mangmi Pocket Max is a handheld gaming console that uses a magnetic modular system to attach and reconfigure its directional pad and ABXY button units. The core unit houses the screen and internal hardware, while the detachable input modules connect via magnets on either side, allowing users to swap, rotate, or reposition controls based on preference. The magnetic attachments maintain electrical contact and allow quick changes without cables or clips. The D-pad module and the ABXY button module each contain their own micro-controller and haptic feedback systems, and both communicate with the main console through a proprietary low-latency interface designed for responsive gameplay.

The console’s central display presents games in a landscape orientation, with speaker grilles positioned to deliver stereo audio. A rechargeable internal battery powers the system, and connectivity options include USB-C for charging and external accessories. The chassis uses rounded edges and textured surfaces to support comfort during extended play.
