The MagicPlan app is an incredibly useful tool that allows users to generate accurate floor plans of rooms and buildings. The application rids one of the need for pencils, paper, scales and measurements -- all tools that are essential to make these floor plans by hand.
Using their iPhone or iPad, users turn in a full circle while their device takes pictures. The MagicPlan app then generates a floor plan by mapping out corners and other key features of the room with an accuracy of +/- 6". If that isn't accurate enough already, one can manually modify the floor plan afterward to ensure it is exactly correct. Once all the rooms are mapped out they can be fit together to have a full rendering of the space.
