In celebration of this year's Diwali (festival of lights), which will take place on November 13, 2012, Marc Jacobs has designed the Louis Vuitton Sari Dress collection. Although the dresses do not look like traditional saris, they are made out of vintage sari fabric sourced from New Delhi, Bangalore, Mumbai, Madras and other cities in India.
From demure ladylike cocktail dresses to an even more modern short and shirt combo, the Louis Vuitton Sari Dress collection is made for the South Asian with a Western flair, or the American with a love of exotic materials. A limited edition line, "the pieces form a collective tribute to the country's long tradition of craftsmanship and splendorous fabrics," according to My Modern Met.
