Recently, the Saudi Arabian government revealed a strikingly ambitious architectural rendering of a linear city named The Line. The ambitious project is part of the NEOM development which is marketed as "a living laboratory" and "a place where entrepreneurship and innovation will chart the course for this New Future."
The highly innovative linear city is essentially a horizontal skyscraper that is 500 meters tall, 200 meters wide, and 170 kilometers long. The elongated building development was "designed as a dramatic alternative to traditional cities that typically radiate out from a central point." Because of its remarkable length, The Line will, without a doubt, offer a completely new way of living, if implemented well. The linear city development will consist of two wall-like structures that will sandwich an open area in between.
