Led by designers Zhijiang Shan and Fan Li, Rongjie Design & Construction Engineering completes the LIAO LIAO Cafe on the grounds of the Luoyang Museum in Henan Province, China. The design immediately captures attention with its continuous wave-form steel roof that echoes the silhouette of the Qinling and Funiu mountain ranges. Its mirror-finish stainless steel exterior reflects the surrounding parkland, while the weathered Corten steel panels, the perforated concrete block screen along the lower facade, the floor-to-ceiling glass walls, and the continuous skylight slot along the roof ridge offer both aesthetic and functional benefits.
Inside, the LIAO LIAO Cafe boasts dark stone flooring, leather and wood lounge chairs, and a central service bar built from the same concrete block used on the exterior.
Ultimately, the LIAO LIAO Cafe project transforms an underutilized roadside site into a gathering place that bridges the museum's cultural gravity with the everyday ritual of coffee.

Trend Themes
-
Biomorphic Roofscapes — Curvilinear, wave-like roof profiles inspired by natural landforms enable immersive architectural identities that blur building boundaries with surrounding landscapes.
-
Reflective Metal Facades — Mirror-finish stainless steel exteriors create dynamic, context-responsive buildings that alter perception of site and season through changing reflections.
-
Material-contrast Aesthetics — Deliberate combinations of weathered Corten, perforated concrete, glass, and polished metal produce layered sensory experiences and new frameworks for tactile branding.
Industry Implications
-
Museum Architecture — Contemporary cultural institutions are adopting sculptural building envelopes that function as both exhibit and civic landmark, reshaping visitor engagement models.
-
Hospitality Design — Cafe and lounge environments are integrating site-specific form and finish to elevate everyday rituals into destination experiences with strengthened local identity.
-
