Aging Burlesque Dancer Photos

This Photo Series Showcases Legends of Burlesque in Their Old Age

Dames: The Legends of Burlesque is a photo series, put together by New York-based photographer Stephanie Diani, that features some of the yesteryear legends of burlesque wearing costumes that were somehow special or significant to them. These women are captured in their homes or in the hotel rooms in which they stayed while performing in Vegas in the past. While the women showcase different personalities in front of the lens, they all share a high level of courage, grace and self-confidence.

The idea for the Legends of Burlesque photo series crept into Diani's mind as far back in 2001, when she saw a Legends of Burlesque show in 2001. Becoming an admirer of the women's confidence and big personalities, she eventually decided to put together a photo series celebrating them.
