Learning with Buddy Shorts Join the Upcoming Horror Film's Unsettling World

The Learning With Buddy shorts expand the upcoming horror film's unsettling world through two YouTube episodes styled after late-1990s children's educational programming. Titled Cleaning and Dancing, the videos recreate colorful sets, upbeat songs, and simple life lessons led by Buddy, an orange unicorn voiced by Keegan-Michael Key. Presented as episodes of the fictional television series It's Buddy!, the cheerful segments gradually introduce unsettling moments that hint at the darker story explored in the feature film.

Directed by Casper Kelly, who co-wrote the screenplay with Jamie King, Buddy follows a group of children whose seemingly idyllic television world begins to unravel after one of them mysteriously disappears. The cast includes Cristin Milioti, Delaney Quinn, Patton Oswalt, Michael Shannon, Topher Grace, and Keegan-Michael Key. Following its Midnight premiere at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival, the film was acquired by Roadside Attractions and Saban Films and is scheduled to arrive in U.S. theaters on August 28.
