Lara De Greef Celebrates the Mundane in Olympic Gold

The Greeks, and perhaps those that came before, had the habit of making statues and monuments to commemorate great achievements. Today we do the same with trophies and memorials. Artist Lara de Greef apparently thought that our everyday activities weren’t getting enough recognition, hence this project titled Olympic Gold.

Lara de Greef depicts people doing really amazing things like putting on shoes, or pants, or brushing their teeth. It’s like a really sarcastic ‘cherish every moment’ art piece. I like it.
