Knowing that food naturally has a way of bringing people together, Rabbi Mordechai Lightstone and his wife Chana set up an interactive Kosher food truck experience at SXSW.
Part of #openShabbat, the Kosher Carne Latin food truck provides a traditional taste of Shabbat, serving as a place for people to rub elbows with a community of people in digital media, while enjoying drinks and good vibes. Although technology is a huge part of SXSW Interactive, one thing that really sets this food truck apart is that is encourages networking and socializing the old fashioned way, without tablets and phones causing interruptions. By taking technology out of words like connectivity and interaction, the event challenges people to slow down and enjoy face-to-face interactions, food and drinks uninterrupted by incoming messages, photo-taking and calls.
