Famed pastry chef Dominique Ansel recently teamed up with Deuki Hong to create the Korean French Dip sandwich. While fusion cuisine is nothing new, the savory creation puts an unexpected twist on the traditional French dip sandwich.
The Korean French Dip is a decadent sandwich that draws influences from traditional Korean cuisine. The sandwich consists of rare roast beef that has been seared and roasted for an hour and a half before it is served on a potato roll infused with black garlic and an additional layer of garlic butter. As far as the fillings, the roast beef is accompanied by kimchee cooked with bacon and caramelized onions. Finally, the jus made by Hong draws inspiration from the short-rib marinade that is traditionally used for Korean barbeque.
For those looking to get their hands on the hybrid sandwich, the dish will only be available at Dominique Ansel Kitchen and there will only be 300 made each day.
