In-Store Kids Scavenger Hunts

Lidl Launches Its Kids Trolley Fruit And Vegetable Scavenger Hunt

Lidl GB launched a summer trial that transforms its child-sized shopping trolleys into fruit and vegetable scavenger hunts, featuring recyclable clue tags attached to the mini trolleys. The initiative launched in mid-July across 100 selected stores, aiming to make the weekly grocery shop a more engaging and educational experience for young children.

The scavenger hunt uses playful clues such as "Mini Trees" and "Orange Sticks" to encourage children to identify different fruits and vegetables. Participating stores also offer Lidl Plus vouchers for free fruit and vegetable items during the summer holidays. The initiative builds on Lidl Foodies, the retailer's nutrition education program, which is now in its second year and has expanded to more than a quarter of British primary schools.

By introducing gamified learning into the shopping experience, Lidl aims to encourage children to explore fresh produce while making grocery trips easier and more enjoyable for families. Targeting stores based on local deprivation indices also reflects a broader focus on improving food literacy and nutrition education in communities that can benefit most.
