Rivian pushes boundaries in the way that EV charging stations function with the launch of the Joshua Tree Charging Outpost. It is designed to be more than a regular pitstop as a place to charge one's electric car, but as a place to truly hang out and relax for a moment.
The outpost is about a few miles from the entrance to the national park and it has 12 300kW chargers that are open to any electric car. Notably, those who have a Rivian car will get a bit of a discount when charging their vehicles. The location directly pulls electricity from the grid by purchasing electricity from solar, single, and hydropower all at once.
