The John Deere Tango E5 Mower Can Trim the Lawn in the Rain
Sarah Moore — June 15, 2012 — Tech
The John Deere TANGO E5 autonomous lawn mower is the newest addition to a lineup of robotic devices developed to let homeowners kick back while the machine perfectly manicures their grass.
This little droid can be programmed to cut the lawn with minimal supervision -- even in a torrential downpour. Most mowers have trouble chomping down greenery when its slick and wet but John Deere's creation allows users to keep dry while it goes to work at creating a yard that will leave neighbors envious.
It's not overly effective for extremely long grass however, as it is a mulch-style cutter that distributes the clippings over the yard. It also needs to have a special wire around the perimeter of the yard installed to avoid the mower wandering off course and shredding up the neighbor's flowerbed.
