Macabre Goth Girls

Jeff Simpson is a Master of Creating Mood and Atmosphere in Paintings

I've been a huge fan of Jeff Simpson's work for quite some time now, and I figured it's time I stopped keeping him a secret from the world since his talent is so prodigious it needs to be shared with everyone.

A Montreal-based concept artist, Jeff Simpson is a master of digital artistry and he specializes in human portraiture mixed with dark fantastical elements. His piece entitled 'Motte' is especially impressive as it harnesses lighting effects which invoke a dreamlike quality. Having a knife stabbed through a human skull is also one of my worst nightmares, so that probably explains why I equate this image so much with dreaming.

Implications - Consumers are fascinated with morbid imagery because it offers them an escapist experience. They're appreciative of this because it acts as a coping mechanism for the stresses of everyday life.
