This jambalaya recipe combines two iconic southern dishes. From Nick Chipman of Dude Foods, the Jambalaya Stuffed Beignets will appeal to lovers of New Orleans as well as fans of the Saints. This particular snack was created as the consequence of a lost bet.
The donut portion was made using dough from a Cafe du Monde mix. The filling consists of Andouille sausage jambalaya that once cooked was frozen into cubes in a standard ice tray. After wrapped in the dough, the bites were deep fried and sprinkled with powdered sugar.
Even though the end result of this jambalaya recipe may seem dubious, the contrasting spice and sweetness pair well together according to Chipman, who ate all ten.
