Inauguration Crashing How-Tos

Site Offers Tips on Attending Obama's Inaugural Celebration

— December 20, 2008 — Social Good
With all the Christmas brouhaha, the fact that the clock is ticking towards the Inauguration of the 44th President of the United States of America has not gone unnoticed. With a mere 33 days to go, you better believe thousands of people are jumping on the eventful bandwagon.

Among those looking to cash in on this historic event is Brian Chesky, co-founder of “CrashTheInauguration.com.” The site guides users on “how to be at the Woodstock of Washington”, offering links to 850 local participants offering rooms, information on travel, parties, and a Crash Kit. As for tickets, not to worry; Chesky says they are not needed. Also offered on CrashTheInauguration.com are suggestions on what to wear for both Him and Her for the momentous occasion. In addition, there are no limits to the help offered; the site includes maps, driving tips, advice on how to crash the parade, and where to meet up in case you get separated from your party.

George Washington University students are willing to provide out of town accommodations for you during the inauguration. You can find out more at the site.

With over four million people expected to be present in DC for this event, phone companies are forecasting a major use of the air waves. Texting is encouraged “to keep lines clear, with the suggestion not to press SEND directly after taking videos”.

Rumor has it that Rihanna will perform at the RIAA Inaugural charity ball at Ibiza nightclub, but this is still be confirmed.

If your pockets are deep enough, how about staying at Frank Lloyd Wright’s, Marden House for $100,000 from January 16 to the 21st? The price includes a cocktail party for 30, or dinner for 10. Also included is a fully stocked kitchen and daily housekeeping.
