iCAD Joins Google to Create a New AI Research Model
Google recently announced its latest AI research model that is designed for breast cancer screening with the help of medical technology company iCAD. This marks the first time that Google is licensing the technology to hopefully create a more accurate detection of breast cancer and risk assessment.
The latest partnership is built on the foundation of Google's previous work to improve breast cancer detection back in 2020. The company published a paper in the journal Nature that discovered that AI system outperformed some radiologists in finding signs of breast cancer. Google additionally works with the NHS in the UK and the Imperial College London to understand if AI technology can function as a “second independent reader” in double reading mammograms.
