The iBamboo Speaker is All Sound and No Environmental Impact

The iBamboo speaker is an ingenious idea -- which, incidentally, is currently seeking funding on the Kickstarter platform -- for a speaker that requires no outlet and no batteries. The amplifier, designed specifically for the iPhone 4, is made entirely from bamboo.
What I particularly like about the iBamboo speaker is that the design process was simple and efficient -- all that's necessary is a piece of bamboo. Sometimes the most effective design, is a simple one.
Implications - The eco movement informs the ethical decision-making of many niche groups, but none more so than youth consumers. This group values efficient design that minimizes waste. Companies can court this consumer group by creating ads that promote initiatives to not only reduce but also reuse waste.
